What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers offer a conservative and effective solution for improving the appearance of imperfect teeth. These custom-made, ultra-thin facings are bonded to the front of the teeth, creating a natural and aesthetically pleasing result. Veneers can hide imperfections like misshapen teeth, minor chips, enamel defects, stains, and small gaps, as well as address minor alignment issues. One of the key benefits of veneers is that they require minimal preparation of the natural tooth and provide long-lasting results. Their thin structure also preserves the maximum amount of natural tooth structure and is gentle on the gumline.

What to expect when getting veneers

Initial consultation and care

Before we can begin the process of getting dental veneers, we will schedule a consultation to evaluate your dental health, oral function, and desired smile aesthetics. During this consultation, we will also discuss your smile goals and treatment expectations. It is important to address any periodontal issues or cavities in the teeth involved before fabricating your new veneers. However, the veneer procedure itself is typically quick and efficient.

Tooth preparation and Impression taking

The extent of tooth preparation needed for porcelain veneers can vary based on the individual case and type of veneer. Typically, only a small amount of tooth structure is removed from the front and sides to achieve a natural and durable look. Once the teeth are prepared, an impression is taken and a porcelain shade is selected. The veneers are then sent to a dental lab for personalized fabrication. Temporary veneer facings are applied to the teeth in the meantime until the permanent ones are completed.

Fitting and placement

After your veneers are prepared, we will carefully check their fit, size, shade, and shape to ensure they look natural and fit perfectly. Any necessary adjustments will be made before attaching them to your teeth to guarantee a precise fit and the best appearance possible. We want to make sure you are happy with your new smile before proceeding. Once the veneers are fitted and approved, the teeth will be cleaned and the veneers will be permanently bonded using composite resin cement. Any final adjustments or refinements needed will be done after the placement to ensure your satisfaction.
