What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers offer a conservative yet highly effective method for improving the appearance of imperfect teeth. These individually crafted, ultra-thin facings are expertly bonded to the front of the teeth, producing a natural and aesthetically pleasing outcome. Veneers are capable of concealing a range of imperfections, including misshapen teeth, minor chips, enamel defects, stains, and small gaps. They also address minor alignment issues. An important advantage of veneers is their minimal requirement for natural tooth preparation, ensuring long-lasting results. Additionally, their slender structure preserves the maximum amount of natural tooth structure and is gentle on the gumline.

What to expect when getting veneers

INITIAL CONSULTATION AND CARE

Commencing the process of obtaining dental veneers begins with an initial consultation to evaluate your dental health, oral function, and desired smile aesthetics. During this consultation, we will discuss your smile goals and treatment expectations. While the veneer procedure itself is relatively swift, it is essential to address any periodontal issues or cavities in the relevant teeth before fabricating the new veneers.

TOOTH PREPARATION AND IMPRESSION TAKING

The extent of tooth preparation required for porcelain veneers varies based on the case and the type of veneer. Typically, the removal of tooth structure from the front and sides is minimal, ensuring a natural and robust appearance. Following tooth preparation, an impression is taken, and a porcelain shade is selected. The veneers are then crafted at a dental laboratory for custom fabrication. Meanwhile, temporary veneer facings are applied to cover the teeth until the permanent ones are ready.

Fitting and placement

Upon completion of the veneers, a meticulous examination is conducted to assess their fit, size, shade, and shape. Before attaching them to your teeth, any necessary adjustments are made to ensure a precise fit and the most favorable appearance. We also ensure your satisfaction with the new smile's aesthetics. Once the veneers are fitted and approved, the involved teeth are cleaned, and the veneers are permanently bonded in place using composite resin cement. Any additional adjustments or minor refinements needed will be addressed after the placement.
