What are dental veneers?

Dental veneers offer a conservative yet highly effective approach to improving the appearance of imperfect teeth. These tailor-made, ultra-thin facings are expertly bonded to the front of the teeth, delivering a natural and aesthetically pleasing outcome. Veneers can discreetly conceal various imperfections, including misshapen teeth, minor chips, enamel defects, stains, and small gaps. They also address minor alignment issues. Notably, one of the primary advantages of veneers is their minimal impact on the natural tooth, ensuring enduring results. Their thin structure not only preserves the maximum amount of natural tooth structure but is also gentle on the gumline.

What to expect when getting veneers

Initial consultation and care

Commencing the dental veneer process involves an initial consultation where we evaluate your dental health, oral function, and desired smile aesthetics. We'll engage in a discussion about your smile goals and treatment expectations. Addressing any periodontal issues or cavities in the relevant teeth is crucial before crafting your new veneers, even though the veneer procedure itself is notably swift.

Tooth preparation and Impression taking

The extent of tooth preparation necessary for porcelain veneers varies based on the case and the veneer type. Typically, the removal of tooth structure from the front and sides is minimal, only enough to achieve a natural and robust appearance. Following tooth preparation, an impression is taken, and a porcelain shade is selected. The veneers are subsequently sent to a dental laboratory for personalized fabrication. Meanwhile, temporary veneer facings are employed to shield the teeth until the permanent ones are prepared.

Fitting and placement

Upon the preparation of your veneers, a meticulous examination of their fit, size, shade, and shape is imperative. Prior to attaching them to your teeth, any essential adjustments are made to guarantee a precise fit and the most favorable appearance. We also ensure your satisfaction with the aesthetics of your new smile. Once the veneers are accurately fitted and approved, the relevant teeth undergo cleaning, and the veneers are permanently bonded in place using composite resin cement. Any additional adjustments or minor refinements required will be addressed post-placement.
